On Murtha

I had to wait and think a bit before deciding to blog about the death of John Murtha. It's no secret I never liked the guy.  I thought he was a swine, who maligned the Marine Corps and the heroes who served downrange.  He was also a corruptocrat who never met a pork barrel project he didn't like, especially when it brought other people's money to blighted, useless areas he represented.

But I also have a little decency, and I'm sure his family deserves a bit more than a bunch of pundits rehashing just how morally and ethically corrupt their husband/father/grandfather was.

So I'm ambivalent...

My condolences go out to his family.  Losing a loved one is difficult, and I hope they find some peace.

As to the event itself...

My friend Dave sent me the following quote, which is most appropriate to how I feel about Murtha's death.

“I've never killed a man, but I've read many an obituary with a great deal of satisfaction." -- M. Twain

And that's more respect than he ever showed the Haditha Marines.

So apparently there are such things as term limits…..

I give him credit for his service to his country, but his treasonous behavior in congress more than negated his military record.

One last quote from Twain and then I am done.

"It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare."
